We’re getting ready to launch the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) at Pontprennau Pharmacy. EPS is an NHS service that allows your GP to send prescriptions directly to your nominated pharmacy in a secure, electronic format.
Although the service is not live at our pharmacy just yet, you can nominate us in advance. This means that as soon as our pharmacy and your GP surgery are both live with EPS, your prescriptions will come directly to us without any delays or paperwork.
The Electronic Prescription Service is a convenient new way to manage your NHS prescriptions. Once both your GP surgery and your pharmacy are set up for EPS, your prescriptions will be sent digitally. You won’t need to collect a paper prescription from the surgery or drop it off at the pharmacy.
EPS is designed to save you time, reduce unnecessary travel and make prescription collection simpler and more secure.
We are expecting to launch EPS at Pontprennau Pharmacy in June 2025. This date is subject to confirmation.
Some local GP surgeries are already live with the Electronic Prescription Service, while others will be joining at a later date. If you are registered with a surgery that is already using EPS, your electronic prescriptions will begin coming to us automatically as soon as our pharmacy is live and you have submitted your nomination.
Even if your GP surgery is not live with EPS yet, you can still nominate us in advance as long as your surgery is due to go live within the next 12 weeks. This ensures your nomination is ready and your prescriptions will be sent to us electronically the moment the service becomes active at both ends.

You can nominate our pharmacy to receive your prescriptions through the Electronic Prescription Service in one of two ways:
In Person – Just speak to a member of our team next time you visit.
By Email – Send us your name, date of birth and a brief message confirming you’d like to nominate our pharmacy for EPS.
📞 Please note: We cannot accept nominations over the phone.
Once nominated and the service is live, your prescriptions will then be sent to us electronically – there’s no need to do anything else!
